Keeping cool in the Heat

Firstly, we wanted to apologise for the delay in posting - it has been a busy couple of weeks with new classes and exploring more venues for extra classes. With the sudden increase in heat, our yoga classes have been focusing on cooler poses and breathwork and stretch bases flows, enabling us to still feel the benefits of movement without overheating. Plus - there is also something delicious for the joints and muscles about stretching in the heat. This hot weather is a great chance to explore how you can adapt but keep your movement plan, to get the most from your sessions and build on your routine.

Our exercise classes have also been continuing in the warmth, taking advantage of Moulton Community Centres brilliant air con.

Brainstorming- As we approach the Summer holidays and days and lives get busier, we have been exploring further ways to provide classes to people who's schedules are changing. Alongside our normal exercise and yoga classes we'll be offering online "Morning Meditation" sessions a couple of mornings a week. These 30 minute sessions will include a gentle stretch, before focusing on meditation and meditation techniques. These sessions will be online (zoom) and so can be done from anywhere. This is perfect for anyone who is on holiday and missing their yoga or for those who are keen to learn and create a meditation practise and gain all the benefits from it. These classes will be starting from June/ July, and as always, if anyone has any ideas for classes then all suggestions are appreciated.

We have also been looking at venues for our mum and tot exercise classes, in particular we have been focusing on venues with outdoor spaces, so that we can exercise outside.

Lastly, with it being Mental Health Awareness Week, and the theme this week being "community" we thought we would shed some light on how our classes can aid this. Joining community based activities is a great way to socialise and feel less isolated, combining this with exercise can also increase endorphins, resilience and boost moods.

One thing that we have been told by numerous clients, and one of our missions is to create movement classes where people can both exercise, stretch and socialise. Many friendships have been formed in classes and we've even heard a partner refer to the class as "Yoga Social" . We believe that creating this environment gives people the benefits of yoga, exercise and community, which can all aid in positive mental health hygiene.

If you are struggling with your mental health then we advise seeking support through your local gp or contacting Samaritans, Mind or Panda's (perinatal mental health).
